Publication Design Overview
My publication design work ranges from large-scale commemorative projects to commercial book design and children’s literature, with a focus on clear storytelling, strong visual identity, and reader-centered layout.
For 25 Tales, published by Howling Hills Publishing, I designed the full book from cover to interior. This project required balancing readability with thematic atmosphere—crafting a design language that complemented the tone of the stories without overwhelming them. I handled narrative flow, page pacing, custom chapter openers, and a cohesive visual aesthetic that unified the diverse tales into a single, inviting volume.
For Peachtree Christian Church’s 100-Year Anniversary Magazine, I served as lead designer and art director, shaping a 100-page publication that combined archival photography, historical essays, donor recognition, and modern layout systems. The piece needed to feel both celebratory and timeless, honoring a century of history while presenting a forward-facing visual identity for the church’s next chapter. I developed the typographic system, page architecture, image treatment, and overall visual rhythm, resulting in a publication that became the centerpiece of PCC’s centennial communications.
On a very different end of the spectrum, The Adventures of Korny the Caticorn, a picture book co-created with my daughter, allowed me to build a child-friendly world from the ground up. I designed the book to be visually engaging and easy to read aloud, incorporating playful typography, expressive compositions, and a bright palette to capture the energy and humor of a young reader’s imagination.
Across all three projects, my goal was the same: to create publications that communicate clearly, feel cohesive, and emotionally connect with their audiences—whether that’s a congregation, a commercial readership, or children discovering a story for the first time.
